At the Vanatheeram Foundation, a core initiative of The Society for Transgenders and Tribals Relief, we are dedicated to creating a world where transgenders and tribals can live with dignity, harmony, and pride. Since our inception in 2015, our mission has been to remove the stigma and marginalization that these communities face, providing them with opportunities to thrive in mainstream society.

Why We Help

The need to uplift and integrate transgenders and tribals into the broader societal fabric is more pressing than ever. Historically, these communities have faced significant discrimination, exclusion, and exploitation. Our foundation is driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance to live a life of respect and opportunity, free from prejudice and marginalization. By focusing on these vulnerable groups, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and self-worth, paving the way for a more inclusive society.

How We Help

Our approach to empowerment is multifaceted, focusing on skill development and income-generating activities that do not require formal education. We provide training in various crafts and trades, such as:

• Soap-Making: Enabling individuals to create high-quality, marketable products.
• Candle-Making: Teaching creative and practical skills that can lead to sustainable income.
• Tailoring: Providing the tools and knowledge to produce garments, fostering both creativity and financial independence.

These initiatives are designed to build confidence and self-reliance, allowing individuals to harness their potential and contribute to their communities effectively.

A Focus on Tribal Upliftment

Our work with tribal communities, particularly in the forests of Wayanad, has been instrumental in promoting self-sufficiency and dignity. The business community has historically exploited the labor and resources of the tribals, leaving them with little to no benefit from their hard work. At Vanatheeram, we support their efforts by:

• Promoting Fair Trade: Ensuring that tribals receive fair compensation for their forest and hill products.
• Encouraging Sustainable Practices: Helping them use their resources in ways that benefit their development without depleting their natural environment.
• Building Self-Confidence: Providing the tools and training needed to turn their traditional skills into profitable ventures.
